I-Remit reaches out to OFWs in Malaysia

To serve the needs of 60,000 estimated OFWs in Malaysia, I-Remit has forged a partnership with Merchantrade Asia Sdn Bhd last August 15, 2007. Merchantrade Asia Sdn Bhd is a network service provider with wide range of services such as prepaid telephone calling cards, postpaid telephone services, managed payphone operations, distribution of telephone equipment, wholesale network solutions and remittance services for migrant workers in Malaysia. Merchantrade Asia Sdn Bhd is the largest and most complete service provider of call shops in Malaysia with over 4,000 shops. It is also the first non-bank company to be given a remittance license by Bank Negara Malaysia (Central Bank of Malaysia). At present, it has 8 branches all over Malaysia and will have 6 more branches by February 2008. Under the deal, I-Remit will be its exclusive partner in providing remittance services to OFWs in Malaysia.
